10 Ways to Make Your Party More Earth Friendly!

10 ways to make your party more earth friendly

With Earth Day this week I was thinking about my own carbon footprint and ways I could reduce it. I am constantly planning parties and making decorations. I try to use materials that will last and make decorations that can be used repeatedly. I am always working on ways to make parties more Earth friendly. I recycle as much as possible and hold on to any extra scrap of paper or tiny piece of ribbon. For any party there is a lot that goes into it and yes usually a lot of trash. I still try to implement the old saying we learned in elementary school reduce, reuse and recycle! See I still remember a few things from school ;). Some of this might be no brainers but it is good to consider the environmental impact of your event and do what you can to make the Earth happy! Here are 10 ways to make your party more Earth friendly: read more

20141213_094310Had a great time this weekend at my first crafts fair showing off my holiday decorations. It was the first but wont be the last! I love seeing all of the creative work people in the community are doing. It is also fun to connect with people I usually wouldn’t meet. Today is the last day to get my holiday decorations and everything is majorly reduced in price, I mean I am basically giving it away and no shipping fees! Today only! If you didn’t get a chance to check out my holiday decorations no worries. Very shortly my Valentine’s Day decor and party packs will be up in my etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ValEventGal. Holiday Drink Tags!

Holiday Drink Tags. Free printables for the holidays!

‘Tis the season for holiday parties! I usually like to bring a bottle of wine to holiday parties if I am not bringing food. It’s always a safe bet, since most people like wine. Well at least most people I know. If you want to spice up your bottle of wine I have these free printable holiday drink tags just for you! All you need is a little ribbon and a hole puncher. These drink tags can work for beer too or even hot chocolate! I have Christmas and Hanukkah ones depending on the occasion you are celebrating. You could use both if you celebrate Christmukkah, like we do in my house. The drink tags are perfect for gifts or to display on all of your wine or beer bottles at your holiday party! read more

Movie Night!

This week I have eaten a TON of candy(literally a ton). I didn’t want to throw any out and waste it, but I also don’t want to eat it all. I hid it from Keira so she wouldn’t eat too much. That plan backfired and I ended up eating way way too much! If like me you are hanging on to extra Halloween candy you can host a movie night and use the candy for a concession stand.

This is a concession stand I made for “A Star is Born” baby shower. I made this one with foam blocks but I realized after the fact cereal boxes would work just as well. Live and learn! It’s really easy to make, works great for movie nights, baby showers or sports themed parties. Cute and no baking involved, score! read more

Happy Fourth of July!

4th of July Party Ideas

Hi party pals! Are you excited for the 4th of July? I know I am! This weekend I get to go to a wedding in Colorado and get out of the Arizona heat hooray! The fourth is a great time to get together with family and friends. Since my family will be out of town I didn’t know if we would really get to celebrate the red, white and blue. I couldn’t have that, so I decided to put together a little “Fauxth” of July/Fourth of July party! If you can’t do it on the actual day why not pick another day. Since the fourth is on Friday you might be working but you can still celebrate all weekend! I put together some easy decorations mostly from the dollar section at Target. Any excuse to go to Target I will take. I really should not be allowed in that store, it’s too much fun! read more

A little about me!

IMG_0135

Hello party pals! My name is Valerie but you can call me Val :). I am so excited to begin this blogging adventure! I am a little slow to come around to the whole technology thing Twitter, Facebook and Snapchat, it is all a foreign language to me. I have thought about blogging before but I am finally making it happen, eek! I think this will be a great creative outlet for me. A place to share with you all my events and providing you with some inspiration. So who am I you might be wondering. I have worked in event planning for many years planning weddings, conferences, receptions and birthday parties. In the last few years I have also helped my loved ones plan parties for important occasions in their lives. I love coming up with themes, creating decor, cupcakes and seeing it all come together. The best part of any event for me is seeing the look on the person of honors face when they walk into the room. They just light up and it brings me so much joy. Come along with me as I show you parties I have planned and give you ideas for your own events! read more
