Kid Friendly Menorah

PicMonkey Collage

Happy Chanukah! I’ve been busy the last couple of days getting ready for Chanukah, it kind of snuck up on me. Right now it doesn’t make sense for us to have a really menorah. Keira’s 3 she can kind of be trusted to not touch things but I don’t trust myself completely with candles ;). I decided to put together a little menorah with paper straws that my daughter could be involved with “lighting”.

All the supplies are Target dollar section. You can do any colors you want, you need: paper straws, wrapping paper, pipe cleaners, a cereal or cracker box and tape to hold it together. read more

Pastel Christmas!

PicMonkey Collage

In the last few years I have moved about 5 times. WIth all of the moving I tend to get rid of the nonessential items like holiday decorations. Although they really are essential with my daughter who is obsessed with Christmas! I realized we had no Christmas decorations nada, but I still don’t want to buy large decorations since we have limited space. Right now we are in an apartment and I don’t want it to be too cluttered. Well at least not more cluttered than it already is with all my craft supplies and Keira’s toys. With a 3 year old they always need running around space. I decided to make some small decorations. I didn’t want to go with traditional Christmas colors this year, I thought some pastel colors would go nicely with our home decor! Our decorations are sort of a winter wonderland with some pink thrown in. Since it’s just us girls there is always some pink thrown in! read more

CD Advent Calendar

PicMonkey Collage

I am new to the whole advent calendar thing. I know I am a bit behind the times. This year is the first time I really wanted to make one. My daughter is now 3, she can really understand and get excited about a count down to Christmas. Last year she was really into the decorations and wanted to go see Christmas lights every night. I love the lights but she was completely obsessed. This year she is more into the Christmas projects not just looking at the decorations. I saw some cute advent calendars that all seemed to be filled with candy. I love candy but I know we will be baking a lot this month so I didn’t want to do too much sweets. I guess there is such a thing as too much candy(maybe). read more

Thanksgiving cupcakes! Gobble gobble and fall leaves.

IMG_12301

Thanksgiving is almost here. It is a great time to get together with family and do what’s really important, eat. Also give thanks for the amazing people and blessings in our lives! I always am so so full after eating the giant meal that I don’t know how I can eat a single bite more! Then I see the desserts and somehow manage to eat even more. It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it. I think there is a separate part of the stomach just for dessert. That’s my logic and I’m sticking to it! Pies are traditionally what people serve for Thanksgiving. I like pies but they are very time consuming to make. Not everyone likes pie and it is good to have a few options for your Thanksgiving guests. Here are some easy cute cupcake ideas great for fall and Thanksgiving! First is the turkey cupcake gobble, gobble :). read more

Halloween Crafts

IMG_1110

I love love doing arts and crafts with Keira. However, I am not a fan of cleaning up after. It seems impossible for us to do arts and crafts without making a ginormous mess. Even with a huge tarp down we end up with paint and glitter on the carpet. As much as I love glitter it is banned from inside the house because glitter seems to multiple and stick to everything. We use the glitter pens and glitter glue so we still get our fill of glitter without the mess. I wanted to make some Halloween crafts/decorations that wouldn’t leave a huge mess. These would be great last minute crafts for Halloween day. I had all the materials but you could put it together with Target items and the Dollar Tree. read more

Spiders!! EEK!

Easy spider Halloween ideas

I try to extend all holidays for the entire month. We do crafts and make decorations to get into the spirit! We made a bunch of spider Halloween crafts. This year Keira wanted to be a ghost for Halloween. I was excited about her costume choice since she dresses up as a princess almost every day, that’s just a Tuesday for us. Luckily Etsy has some cute ghost costumes so I didn’t have to figure out how to make one. I cannot sew to save my life, although I can glue like nobody’s business. Today I got Keira’s costume in the mail and wanted to try it on her. Once it was on she didn’t want to take it off and was ready to go trick or treating. She was waiting for the sun to go down for trick or treating. It’s hard to convince a three year old it is not trick or treating time when they get the idea set in their mind. Now her costume is in hiding until Halloween. Instead of trick or treating she had to settle for making fun Halloween decorations with me :). read more

Spooky Treats!

Easy Halloween Desserts! Graveyard cupcakes, ghost pops, spiderweb cupcakes and more

Halloween is probably my all-time favorite holiday. You get to dress up in fun costumes and people give you candy, how bad can that be? I think it is the little kid in me (or sugar addict) that loves this holiday so much. One of the best things about being a mom is being able to relive your childhood and act like a kid again. Sadly people would think it was weird if a 30 year old woman dressed up and went trick or treating without a kid. To get ready for Halloween I made some easy Halloween desserts with my daughter. These are all easy enough for kids to help out with, especially the cupcakes. read more

Drink Centerpieces

PicMonkey Collage3

For a bridal shower I was helping out with we went with a drinks and diamonds theme. It was a really cute unique theme. The wedding colors are deep purple and red, which we wanted to incorporate into the decorations for the shower. Luckily I had a few martini glass vases lying around to use for the shower. I wanted to make centerpieces that looked like a drink. These centerpieces could be made on a smaller scale with regular martini glasses. A few bunched together on a serving tray would look really good. I looked for flowers to match the wedding colors and I found carnations that match. I personally think carnations have gotten a bad reputation and can look beautiful when presented the right way. read more
