Lips Valentine’s Day Cupcakes

Lips cupcakes for Valentine's Day

I am a sucker for cute and silly cupcakes! If you have been to my site before, chances are you have seen some cupcakes or other cute desserts. I don’t make anything fancy because I am not a professional. My goal with making desserts is to make them simple so myself and others can actually achieve the look. These fun little kissing lips cupcakes are really cute for Valentine’s Day. It’s a day all about love and love involves some smooches. My daughter knows I give way too many smooches. She is at the age where she isn’t wanting me to kiss her as much so I have to sneak them in when I can. She’s a little fiveager, acting like a teenager but she’s only five. It is my job as a parent to kiss her in public and embarrass her in front of her friends. These kissing lips Valentine’s Day cupcakes are a fun treat for Galentine’s parties as well. I made them a few different ways to try them out and see what looked best. I tried to give them a bit of an illustrated/cartoon look. You can get creative with how to make them. read more

Decorated Dollar Store Chocolate Box Gifts

| Candy, Crafts, Valentines Day

brush stroke painted chocolate boxes

Whenever I am at the store around Valentine’s Day I see these little chocolate boxes with cheesy pictures on them. I typically just pass them by because the pictures of flowers or puppies don’t call to me. This year I decided those boxes could look really cute with a little extra love. They just needed a makeover to turn into the perfect gifts. It doesn’t take much to make these decorated dollar store chocolate box gifts. All I did was add some paint in a few fun colors and look how pretty they turned out! The paint completely transformed the boxes into modern fun gifts. These would be great gifts for Galentine’s Day, to hand out to friends, or family. I always have a hard time thinking of little gifts to give that also have a bit of a personal touch to them. Also, I sometimes┬ájust need an excuse to paint something. It had been way too long since I had taken out my paint brushes. I wouldn’t say I am the best painter ever but since I am not a professional I know anyone could make these pretty boxes. read more

Make Colorful Chocolates

| Candy, Valentines Day

Pretty colorful chocolates

I like everything to be bright and colorful, including my food! It doesn’t take much to make boring brown chocolates look bright and cheery. This Valentine’s Day I am giving my daughter little treats spread out throughout the month. Nothing expensive just little gifts to show her I care. She will be getting stickers, a little puzzle, figurines, and of course her favorite is the chocolates. Honestly, it’s my favorite part of Valentine’s Day too! The best part of giving her this box of chocolates was when she opened it up and was completely shocked by the fun colors. I┬ámade these with a dollar store chocolate box. Buy a bunch of little chocolate boxes to hand out to friends or family, the more the merrier! Anyone could make colorful chocolates with these easy steps, trust me if I can do it you can too. I made them for my daughter in her favorite colors pink and turquoise. However, you could use any colors you want such as red and white for Valentine’s Day. You can also buy a bag of heart shaped chocolates and then put the finished colorful chocolates in little clear bags. read more

Pool Noodle Cupid’s Arrows

| DIY, Valentines Day

Pool Noodle Cupid's Arrows are so fun to make for party decorations or fun games!

For every holiday I have to do something fun and goofy. Okay, usually multiple goofy projects because that is how I roll. These pool noodle cupid’s arrows are a blast! We have been throwing them around and using them for games for the last week. You can make them for a Valentine’s party game, just for fun with kids, and to hang up as a decoration at parties. I don’t know if it is just an Arizona thing but most people I know have pool noodles in the garage that are just hanging out and not being used this time of year. This is an excellent way to use them. You can also pick some up from the dollar store, Walmart or Target! One pool noodle makes two arrows. You can use them on their own to just throw around and try aim and hit someone. You can also try to get them through a hoop or a large heart like the one I made for a photo booth here: http://valeventgal.com/2015/02/valentines-day-kissing-booth/ read more

Candy Love Bugs are an adorable Valentines dessert you can make

These candy love bugs are cute and easy to make. I made them with my little love bug :). My obsession with candy eyes continues because they just make everything cute! I made lady bugs candies for my daughter’s first birthday a while back. She is 4 now so wow more than 3 years ago! Now she is a big helper making candy with me. Ok she’s a helper for a minute then she gets bored and I finish up. Luckily these love bugs are easy to make and no baking involved.

Even health foods because apparently you can’t always have cupcakes. They are easy to make and really fun for Valentine’s Day parties.

Hearts, hearts and more hearts!

| Birthday Party, Desserts, DIY, Events, Holidays

I am all about the hearts right now! I got some red pipe cleaners and have found so many fun things you can do with them to decorate! They are easy to shape into hearts and look really cute wrapped around paper straws.

IMG_2337

I also made a cute little love bug headband. Wouldn’t really stay on too long but can work for a Valentine’s Day party. You can secure it with booby pins or barrettes.

IMG_2319 IMG_2320 IMG_2321 IMG_2323 IMG_2326

Take one pipe cleaner and bend it down in a circle shape. Then take another pipe cleaner and bend it in half. Make a heart shape on each end as shown above. You bend it in between your fingers for the top of the heart. Wrap the bottom together. Then put it around the middle of the other pipe cleaner and twist it a few times to keep it in place. read more

PicMonkey Collage

These marshmallow pops and heart candy pops taste great! They are super easy to make and look adorable. I am all about the bright fun colors this Valentine’s Day! I think I went a little overboard with the candy hearts I bought so I am using them in any ways I can. No actual baking involved here so anyone could make these.

IMG_2196

For the heart pops you need candy melts any color you want or white chocolate, conversation hearts or heart sprinkles, lollipop sticks and a candy making bottle. read more
