Where I live there are hot air balloons in the sky almost every morning. It makes it a little easier to get up early when you can go out and see the hot air balloons. I am just not a morning person, what would I do without coffee! Anyways the hot air balloons are so fun and whimsical they brighten my day! They also make for a nice party decoration. I’m always looking for fun things to do with balloons to dress them up a bit. For the hot air balloons basket you can use a paper cup or a party hat like I did. This hot air balloon decoration is pretty and easy to make.

I am all about the hearts right now! I got some red pipe cleaners and have found so many fun things you can do with them to decorate! They are easy to shape into hearts and look really cute wrapped around paper straws.
I also made a cute little love bug headband. Wouldn’t really stay on too long but can work for a Valentine’s Day party. You can secure it with booby pins or barrettes.
Take one pipe cleaner and bend it down in a circle shape. Then take another pipe cleaner and bend it in half. Make a heart shape on each end as shown above. You bend it in between your fingers for the top of the heart. Wrap the bottom together. Then put it around the middle of the other pipe cleaner and twist it a few times to keep it in place.
My all time favorite dessert is my Mom’s chocolate chip cookie bars. That and my Grandma’s chocolate cake. There is nothing like Mom and Grandma’s baking is there?! Cookie bars in my opinion are superior to regular cookies. They are easier to make and have that extra soft goodness that regular cookies can’t always achieve. I’ve made the chocolate chip cookie bars but this was my first attempt at sugar cookie bars. Let me tell you they are amazing! Definitely going into my regular dessert rotation. They are also easier to cut into shapes. I decided to make mine into cute conversation hearts.
Happy Chanukah! I’ve been busy the last couple of days getting ready for Chanukah, it kind of snuck up on me. Right now it doesn’t make sense for us to have a really menorah. Keira’s 3 she can kind of be trusted to not touch things but I don’t trust myself completely with candles ;). I decided to put together a little menorah with paper straws that my daughter could be involved with “lighting”.
All the supplies are Target dollar section. You can do any colors you want, you need: paper straws, wrapping paper, pipe cleaners, a cereal or cracker box and tape to hold it together.
In the last few years I have moved about 5 times. WIth all of the moving I tend to get rid of the nonessential items like holiday decorations. Although they really are essential with my daughter who is obsessed with Christmas! I realized we had no Christmas decorations nada, but I still don’t want to buy large decorations since we have limited space. Right now we are in an apartment and I don’t want it to be too cluttered. Well at least not more cluttered than it already is with all my craft supplies and Keira’s toys. With a 3 year old they always need running around space. I decided to make some small decorations. I didn’t want to go with traditional Christmas colors this year, I thought some pastel colors would go nicely with our home decor! Our decorations are sort of a winter wonderland with some pink thrown in. Since it’s just us girls there is always some pink thrown in!
I am new to the whole advent calendar thing. I know I am a bit behind the times. This year is the first time I really wanted to make one. My daughter is now 3, she can really understand and get excited about a count down to Christmas. Last year she was really into the decorations and wanted to go see Christmas lights every night. I love the lights but she was completely obsessed. This year she is more into the Christmas projects not just looking at the decorations. I saw some cute advent calendars that all seemed to be filled with candy. I love candy but I know we will be baking a lot this month so I didn’t want to do too much sweets. I guess there is such a thing as too much candy(maybe).
Halloween is probably my all-time favorite holiday. You get to dress up in fun costumes and people give you candy, how bad can that be? I think it is the little kid in me (or sugar addict) that loves this holiday so much. One of the best things about being a mom is being able to relive your childhood and act like a kid again. Sadly people would think it was weird if a 30 year old woman dressed up and went trick or treating without a kid. To get ready for Halloween I made some easy Halloween desserts with my daughter. These are all easy enough for kids to help out with, especially the cupcakes.
