When I was a kid I was a big doodler. In class I was the kid day dreaming and doodling in my notebook. Apparently not a lot has changed because I still am a dreamer and doodler. I loved art and took a few art classes. One summer I had signed up for an art class. Then I broke my right arm a week before it started(I’m right handed). I still took the class but I had to learn how to draw with my left hand. It took me forever to complete the projects but I did it! My love for art runs deep and of course I love art parties! This week my blog theme is art parties and today I am making art party hats. I thought it would be fun to make party hats part of the party activities. Plus it is wearable art! It could be fun to do this with regular coloring pages in the theme of the party and cut out the pictures to glue on plain party hats. Since I am going with an overall art theme doodle art party hats sounded fun! Don’t they look adorable with just plain paper and a few scribbles?! Sometimes the simplest things can turn out great. I was thinking of making a hat template and that could be used for the hat. Then I realized I have no idea how to make a hat template and I can just cut it out from the shape of a regular cheap hat. I’m all about making it easy for myself and others!

Have you ever tried splatter painting? It is a really fun way of painting that doesn’t require any actually painting skills. The end result always looks really cool! It is not for the neat freaks because there is no way to avoid a mess when you are splattering paint around. When I was a kid I had a splatter paint room for a while and I loved it. My parents always let my sister and I paint our rooms. Being the indecisive person that I am I definitely went through quite a few different color combinations. I had purple and turquoise, multi-color splatter paint, and black grey and silver during my teen angst years. The splatter paint was definitely the most fun to do. I haven’t painted any walls in years! I think once my daughter and I are in a house we can do some painting in her room maybe splatter paint or a mural if I’m feeling ambitious. For now I will just stick to cake painting. I thought the splatter paint look would look cool for a cake. It was definitely fun to make but also really messy. If you make a splatter paint cake just make sure to have a bunch of plastic wrap or tinfoil laid out to avoid the massive mess. I love making a good mess, cleaning it up is a different story. The finished product looks really great and you do not need to have decorating skills to make it. Just the ability to throw some candy melts or frosting on the cake! This is a great project to do with kids because they have a blast! Perfect for an art party or inside out party. I could see this for a teen party just change the colors to match any theme!
