My daughter Keira has really been getting excited for Easter this week. Yesterday she was wearing bunny ears around the entire day. They kept falling in her face but she insisted on keep them on. She also picked out a cute dress for Easter. It has multicolored jelly beans all over it, so cute! She has a better fashion sense than I do so I usually let her pick out what she wants to wear. Both of us love bright colors and spring is the perfect time for that. To get ready for Easter I’ve been testing out some fun and easy treats. We made bunny ear chocolate spoons and marshmallow pop bunny noses. This was so easy to put together. I like anything I can prepare with Keira so I don’t have to stay up at night getting things ready.

I just love this time of year. March is probably my favorite month because the weather is just amazing in Arizona. I have to soak it in before the heat comes. We have been decorating with flowers and getting ready for Easter. Last Easter I made these cute baby chick mini cupcakes! I made mini cupcakes to fit in the Easter eggs and because mini chick cupcakes are just too cute! I wanted something easy to make and put out during the Easter festivities.
For these cute baby chick mini cupcakes you need:
To get my daughter Keira excited for St. Patrick’s Day we had to do something with leprechauns. I have seen a lot of really cute leprechaun traps but I wanted to do something a little bit different. Sticking with what we do best I decided to throw a party for a little leprechaun. I figured you don’t need a trap if you throw a party because leprechauns do not miss a party, true story. Also, any excuse to make teeny tiny party decorations I will take. Keira helped to make the little decorations. She seriously is the best helper, I am lucky that she has the patience for my crazy projects. I also drew a picture of a leprechaun, our guest of honor and named him Lucky.
I have been getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day this week. I wanted to try out making an Irish drink to really get in the mood for St. Patrick’s Day. As a mom it is good to make something for yourself once in a while. Mommy needs a break sometimes and to relax at night with a little mom juice, am I right?! When I was in college for St. Paddy’s we would go to an Irish bar that was jam packed and I would have to get the green beer to have my Irish drink. Usually it was some watered down beer and by the end of the night someone had spilled green beer on me. Okay it was probably me doing the spilling, I’m clumsy like that ;). I am happy to be past the point of going out to crowded places on St. Patrick’s Day.
In my house we are getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day! Since my daughter and I are big arts and crafts fans I plan a few crafty activities to go with every holiday. I decide it would be fun to “grow” a rainbow. Keira and I planted the “seed” before she went to school and when she came back the rainbow had grown. She was really so excited to see that her rainbow had grown. A few times we have tried to grow little flowers and plants in pots but never successfully. I always forget to water the plants and Keira expects them to grow in a day. I can’t even keep a cactus alive, I know its pathetic. I love flowers but I can’t be trusted with them. So I will stick to “growing” rainbows and fake plants.
I am all about the hearts right now! I got some red pipe cleaners and have found so many fun things you can do with them to decorate! They are easy to shape into hearts and look really cute wrapped around paper straws.
I also made a cute little love bug headband. Wouldn’t really stay on too long but can work for a Valentine’s Day party. You can secure it with booby pins or barrettes.
Take one pipe cleaner and bend it down in a circle shape. Then take another pipe cleaner and bend it in half. Make a heart shape on each end as shown above. You bend it in between your fingers for the top of the heart. Wrap the bottom together. Then put it around the middle of the other pipe cleaner and twist it a few times to keep it in place.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Don’t I have the cutest little Valentine?! I have no problem being single this Valentine’s Day because I have a lot of love in my life. My daughter on the other hand has a Valentine’s date, his mom and I are just going to hang out while they have their date. Ok it’s a play date but they are just too adorable. She is not going to date for another 13 years! In preparation of Valentine’s Day I wanted to have a cute set up for taking pictures. I decided to make a “kissing booth” photo booth. It was super easy to make and really fun for pictures. I can’t wait to take some cute pictures of Keira and her Valentine’s “date” in the kissing booth. Another fun thing about the kissing booth is you actually have an excuse to make the duck lips kissy face with out being judged. It is a judgement free zone.
These marshmallow pops and heart candy pops taste great! They are super easy to make and look adorable. I am all about the bright fun colors this Valentine’s Day! I think I went a little overboard with the candy hearts I bought so I am using them in any ways I can. No actual baking involved here so anyone could make these.
For the heart pops you need candy melts any color you want or white chocolate, conversation hearts or heart sprinkles, lollipop sticks and a candy making bottle.
My all time favorite dessert is my Mom’s chocolate chip cookie bars. That and my Grandma’s chocolate cake. There is nothing like Mom and Grandma’s baking is there?! Cookie bars in my opinion are superior to regular cookies. They are easier to make and have that extra soft goodness that regular cookies can’t always achieve. I’ve made the chocolate chip cookie bars but this was my first attempt at sugar cookie bars. Let me tell you they are amazing! Definitely going into my regular dessert rotation. They are also easier to cut into shapes. I decided to make mine into cute conversation hearts.
I can’t believe it is almost New Years! This year really flew by but that seems to happen a lot. Overall it was a really great year and I think 2015 is going to be even better! This year I will be staying in for New Years with my daughter. I have a few little activities planned and then we will probably be in bed by 10. We get a little cray-zay up in here. If you are throwing a New Years bash I have fun easy photo booth signs that you can make in minutes! I made these for my friend’s 30th birthday. It was a 20’s mobster casino theme, which was a blast. I wrote mobster names on the signs. The black and white colors are also perfect for New Years. You can write goodbye 2014, welcome 2015, Happy New Year, countdown and cheers! You can also leave them blank and have everyone write their new years resolutions. People could also write their favorite thing about 2014.
