Earth Day is coming up soon! In the past I haven’t really done much for this day. The last couple of years my daughter Keira was too young to really get into it. This year though we have some fun things planned. We are going to plant some fruits and vegetables at my parents house. We live in an apartment and despite my best efforts I can’t keep plants alive. It is better for the Earth if I don’t personally own plants. I am also setting up an easy recycling activity with items laid out to recycle and Keira can put them in the pretty recycle bin. I know one of the best ways to get Keira’s attention is with something yummy or a fun crafts. Like mother like daughter. I made these Earth cake pops for a party but they are perfect for Earth Day.

Hooray, easy floral backdrops! I love a pretty backdrop! For events a backdrop can make a huge difference for the appearance of a dessert table. They also are fun for pictures. With a pretty floral backdrop you don’t even need photo props. Now you could have really flowers and spend a ton for a floral wall or have complicated ones that take ten hours. That is not how I roll! These backdrops are seriously the easiest to make with simple tissue paper flowers and all you need are a few items from the dollar or party store. You could set it up at home for easy cute pictures or for a party.
We are in full on Easter prep this week! My daughter Keira is on spring break so we have some extra time for activities. Besides going out on fun adventures, I planned a few Easter crafts to get us ready for the Easter bunny. I wanted to make silly bunnies because well we are silly and appreciate some silliness(is that a word?). I was thinking of making sock bunnies or bags but I happened to have these cake boxes so I made bunny boxes. If you don’t have boxes you could use paper bags, which would look adorable! I might make some bunny bags before Easter.
My daughter Keira has really been getting excited for Easter this week. Yesterday she was wearing bunny ears around the entire day. They kept falling in her face but she insisted on keep them on. She also picked out a cute dress for Easter. It has multicolored jelly beans all over it, so cute! She has a better fashion sense than I do so I usually let her pick out what she wants to wear. Both of us love bright colors and spring is the perfect time for that. To get ready for Easter I’ve been testing out some fun and easy treats. We made bunny ear chocolate spoons and marshmallow pop bunny noses. This was so easy to put together. I like anything I can prepare with Keira so I don’t have to stay up at night getting things ready.
I just love this time of year. March is probably my favorite month because the weather is just amazing in Arizona. I have to soak it in before the heat comes. We have been decorating with flowers and getting ready for Easter. Last Easter I made these cute baby chick mini cupcakes! I made mini cupcakes to fit in the Easter eggs and because mini chick cupcakes are just too cute! I wanted something easy to make and put out during the Easter festivities.
For these cute baby chick mini cupcakes you need:
To get my daughter Keira excited for St. Patrick’s Day we had to do something with leprechauns. I have seen a lot of really cute leprechaun traps but I wanted to do something a little bit different. Sticking with what we do best I decided to throw a party for a little leprechaun. I figured you don’t need a trap if you throw a party because leprechauns do not miss a party, true story. Also, any excuse to make teeny tiny party decorations I will take. Keira helped to make the little decorations. She seriously is the best helper, I am lucky that she has the patience for my crazy projects. I also drew a picture of a leprechaun, our guest of honor and named him Lucky.
In my house we are getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day! Since my daughter and I are big arts and crafts fans I plan a few crafty activities to go with every holiday. I decide it would be fun to “grow” a rainbow. Keira and I planted the “seed” before she went to school and when she came back the rainbow had grown. She was really so excited to see that her rainbow had grown. A few times we have tried to grow little flowers and plants in pots but never successfully. I always forget to water the plants and Keira expects them to grow in a day. I can’t even keep a cactus alive, I know its pathetic. I love flowers but I can’t be trusted with them. So I will stick to “growing” rainbows and fake plants.
My niece Zoe just turned 6. I can’t believe she is already 6! She is so grown up now and I just love watching her grow up. I missed a birthday party or two of hers when I was living in San Diego. Now I get to help out with all of the decorations and making her birthday extra special. She had big ideas for her birthday with a magic theme, magician(what is a magic party without a magician?!), and a bouncy castle. She wanted rabbits in hats with purple, pink, black and white colors. I love, love how the color combination turned out. Everything looked amazing and her magic birthday party was a blast. Plus, Zoe got to show off her amazing magic skills.
My niece is really into magic right now. She has her magic kit and does some really fun magic tricks. For her 6th birthday party she wanted to have a magic party. I thought that was such a fun theme, I love how original she is. I made a few easy decorations that I am going to show you how to make.
To make an easy magic wand all you need is paper and curling ribbon in the colors of your party, straws, glue, and scissors.
Fold paper over in a strip about the size of your finger nail. Keep folding until the paper is completely folded. Then cut the paper three strips together as seen in the picture below.
I am really excited for the Oscar’s on Sunday. Honestly, I haven’t seen most of the movies but I love seeing what everyone is wearing and making a list of movies I will be seeing when they come out on Netflix ;). That’s mom life for you, not many movie nights out. It’s not an occasion for me to go over the top but there are some cute easy ways to have a fun little Oscar viewing party.
Popcorn is a must! You can serve it in individual cups and wrap a little gold or red ribbon around it to dress it up.
