Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Don’t I have the cutest little Valentine?! I have no problem being single this Valentine’s Day because I have a lot of love in my life. My daughter on the other hand has a Valentine’s date, his mom and I are just going to hang out while they have their date. Ok it’s a play date but they are just too adorable. She is not going to date for another 13 years! In preparation of Valentine’s Day I wanted to have a cute set up for taking pictures. I decided to make a “kissing booth” photo booth. It was super easy to make and really fun for pictures. I can’t wait to take some cute pictures of Keira and her Valentine’s “date” in the kissing booth. Another fun thing about the kissing booth is you actually have an excuse to make the duck lips kissy face with out being judged. It is a judgement free zone.

These marshmallow pops and heart candy pops taste great! They are super easy to make and look adorable. I am all about the bright fun colors this Valentine’s Day! I think I went a little overboard with the candy hearts I bought so I am using them in any ways I can. No actual baking involved here so anyone could make these.
For the heart pops you need candy melts any color you want or white chocolate, conversation hearts or heart sprinkles, lollipop sticks and a candy making bottle.
My all time favorite dessert is my Mom’s chocolate chip cookie bars. That and my Grandma’s chocolate cake. There is nothing like Mom and Grandma’s baking is there?! Cookie bars in my opinion are superior to regular cookies. They are easier to make and have that extra soft goodness that regular cookies can’t always achieve. I’ve made the chocolate chip cookie bars but this was my first attempt at sugar cookie bars. Let me tell you they are amazing! Definitely going into my regular dessert rotation. They are also easier to cut into shapes. I decided to make mine into cute conversation hearts.
Are you ready to paaaarrrttyy?! For my best friend’s 30th birthday or 20th round 2. I wanted to plan something fun and unique to her personality. She loves going to Vegas but we didn’t want the expense of that trip. Plus with my friends we would have had a Bridesmaids moment and not even make it there. I also know she loves all of the 1920’s mob shows and mob history. The first thing she wanted to do when we went to Vegas was go to the Mob Museum. It was actually really interested definitely worth checking out if you are in Las Vegas. I decided to make her party a 20’s mobster casino theme. We had the party at The Talking Stick, a nice casino resort in town. My friend is not the type you can do a surprise party for, she likes to plan and know what’s going on. I involved her in the planning but I had to leave a few surprises.
I can’t believe it is almost New Years! This year really flew by but that seems to happen a lot. Overall it was a really great year and I think 2015 is going to be even better! This year I will be staying in for New Years with my daughter. I have a few little activities planned and then we will probably be in bed by 10. We get a little cray-zay up in here. If you are throwing a New Years bash I have fun easy photo booth signs that you can make in minutes! I made these for my friend’s 30th birthday. It was a 20’s mobster casino theme, which was a blast. I wrote mobster names on the signs. The black and white colors are also perfect for New Years. You can write goodbye 2014, welcome 2015, Happy New Year, countdown and cheers! You can also leave them blank and have everyone write their new years resolutions. People could also write their favorite thing about 2014.
I know everyone this time of year makes cookies. I love cookies as much as the next gal but cupcakes are just my thing. I like to make cupcakes, marshmallow pops and cake pops. They are just so cute! Since I’ve had Santa on the brain but didn’t have time to figure out how to make Santas I decided to make Santa bags and presents. These would be fun to leave out for Santa, for Christmas Eve or on Christmas when you are opening up presents. Both are really easy to make! For the cupcakes all you will need are cupcakes, frosting(any color you want), sugar(not needed) and pull n peel Twizzlers.
It’s Chanukah (or Hanukkah I like to mix it up and use both spellings ;)) time! Chanukah so fun and a great time to get together with family. Also a time to eat lots and lots of latkes! My love for latkes I cannot put into words, for me it is a comfort food. Luckily they are only around me for holidays. Otherwise I would just be eating them all day everyday.
The only problem I have with Chanukah is the lack of decorations available. Growing up we celebrated Hanukkah and Christmas, which was a lot of fun. However, Hanukkah had a hard time competing with Christmas because of the lack of decorations and Santa. Chanukah Harry just isn’t the same as Santa(SNL reference). It is the festival of lights but doesn’t have as many lights as Christmas. I do love how many temples now are putting up giant menorahs that you can see from a mile away. I also love the mench on a bench, how funny is that?! The Chanukah section is usually a tiny bin buried in between Christmas decorations. I am going to share with you a few easy DIY Chanukah party decorations.
Happy Chanukah! I’ve been busy the last couple of days getting ready for Chanukah, it kind of snuck up on me. Right now it doesn’t make sense for us to have a really menorah. Keira’s 3 she can kind of be trusted to not touch things but I don’t trust myself completely with candles ;). I decided to put together a little menorah with paper straws that my daughter could be involved with “lighting”.
All the supplies are Target dollar section. You can do any colors you want, you need: paper straws, wrapping paper, pipe cleaners, a cereal or cracker box and tape to hold it together.
In the last few years I have moved about 5 times. WIth all of the moving I tend to get rid of the nonessential items like holiday decorations. Although they really are essential with my daughter who is obsessed with Christmas! I realized we had no Christmas decorations nada, but I still don’t want to buy large decorations since we have limited space. Right now we are in an apartment and I don’t want it to be too cluttered. Well at least not more cluttered than it already is with all my craft supplies and Keira’s toys. With a 3 year old they always need running around space. I decided to make some small decorations. I didn’t want to go with traditional Christmas colors this year, I thought some pastel colors would go nicely with our home decor! Our decorations are sort of a winter wonderland with some pink thrown in. Since it’s just us girls there is always some pink thrown in!
I am new to the whole advent calendar thing. I know I am a bit behind the times. This year is the first time I really wanted to make one. My daughter is now 3, she can really understand and get excited about a count down to Christmas. Last year she was really into the decorations and wanted to go see Christmas lights every night. I love the lights but she was completely obsessed. This year she is more into the Christmas projects not just looking at the decorations. I saw some cute advent calendars that all seemed to be filled with candy. I love candy but I know we will be baking a lot this month so I didn’t want to do too much sweets. I guess there is such a thing as too much candy(maybe).
