When it comes to Thanksgiving desserts I definitely always have to have some pie. It’s not my favorite dessert ever but it’s a Thanksgiving tradition. My daughter on the other hand will not touch pie unless maybe it is chocolate and has tons of whipped cream piled on top. I also add an excessive amount of whipped cream, it runs in the family. I wanted to make a simple Thanksgiving treat that my daughter would eat and could help make. These turkey chocolate pretzels were the perfect Thanksgiving treat for her! She helped with dipping the pretzels in the chocolate and putting on the faces. I like to make a fast dessert that doesn’t require a lot of patience to make. My 5 year old has more patience than some kids but that still is not a lot.

I’ve been in to the ghost ideas this week for Halloween. These Halloween ghost crafts and desserts from around the web all look so fun to make! What is Halloween without ghosts?! My favorite Halloween costume to date was when my daughter dressed as a ghost and I dressed as a ghost buster. I had to by a mans costume because the female ones weren’t exactly trick or treat friendly. She was so adorable in her ghost costume I found on etsy. These ghosts ideas from around the web have something for adults and kids.

Sometimes you just want to make chocolate covered guitar marshmallows or is that just me?! These little rock n roll marshmallows turned out insanely cute! They are a perfect, simple dessert for a music lover’s birthday or rock n roll party. A music theme is such a great party theme because everyone loves music. I am definitely partial to acoustic guitars music. That’s the kind of music I like to listen to when I make my little treats. I also like to play music that goes with the theme of what I’m making. It just makes the process more fun! Dancing is an important part of my creative process as well.
In our house there is a lot of pink! It’s just me and my daughter, which means girl time all the time. Ok she’s not just into the girl stuff she also is obsessed with Star Wars. Dresses, pink, and Star Wars, they go together in our house. We also love princesses and dress up. Really pink candy can be used for anything girl. For kids and adults, I know a few adults that still love their pink princesses! We made this simple pink princess candy bark that anyone can make. It was half me and half my daughter and she is five. You may be able to tell what parts are her because of the excessive amount of sprinkles but it all looks so pretty. There just aren’t enough pink desserts out there. We had to change that.
I always want to do cute things for back to school for my daughter. Then suddenly back to school creeps up on me and I haven’t done anything. That is why I have decided this year to try a few simple ideas for back to school. These fruit roll up apple pops are an easy snack. Kids will love them because duh they are fruit roll ups and they look like little apples, what’s not to like?! You get bonus mom points and you didn’t really have to make anything, score! Perfect for lazy moms like myself. Well not really lazy more like who’s got time when you have to get kids ready for school that take an hour to pick out socks. Not to name any names ;).
I am on an ice cream kick this week and what could be better than an ice cream sandwich bar?! This is an easy dessert bar for guests at a summer party. I love bars for parties. You can have mimosa bars, taco bars, bar bars, sandwich bars, candy bars and many others, the possibilities are endless. What I love about a food bar is that people get to choose how they want their food because everyone likes it a little bit different. It is also less work for the host. You put out some ingredients and you are done! The best kind of bars involve sweets in my opinion.
Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts. In the summer it is number one on my list! This is the time of year to indulge in sweet treats. Swimsuit season is halfway over go crazy ;)! These are perfect little bites to serve for a group or just to make with kids. You can eat just one and not feel too bad because it is smaller than a normal ice cream sandwich. I loved how the Oreo ice cream sandwiches turned out and will definitely be making them again. They were really easy to make but they did take longer to make than to eat. That is my problem with desserts they seem to just disappear.
I love the succulent and cactus trend right now for parties. Living in the desert it makes it an easy trend to follow! These cactus garden cupcakes are simple to make and adorable for parties. A cactus is really the only kind of plant I can keep alive so I am fond of them. Putting a couple of these simple toppers on each cupcake turns it into a little succulent or cactus garden. You can also use the toppers for other party foods like appetizers and cheese.
