I have been wanting to make a wreath for a while and I am really excited about this honeycomb wreath! I am just blown away by some of the wreaths I have seen from fellow bloggers. Some are super fancy and intricate. I love what I have been seeing and I had planned on really making something fancy. Then life happened and I didn’t have the time to dedicate to the fancy wreath in my mind. Don’t you just wish you could think something up and then it could magically appear? Someone needs to invent a machine that does that. Sounds simple enough ;). Anyways I didn’t have the time but still wanted to make my own wreath. I was browsing in the party section at Target as I tend to do because they have amazing things! Oh Target, what would I do without you. I came across this pink honeycomb and thought it would be cool for a wreath. I know pink doesn’t scream Christmas for some people but I also wanted to make something that I might be able to get away with keeping up past Christmas. Pink really is a year round thing! Since we are doing more of a modern Christmas with gold, pink, black and some bright colors this definitely fits in. You can use other colors as well red, green, blue, magenta or whatever tickles your fancy. Now lets get to business and make this honeycomb wreath!

I’m really in to doing nontraditional Christmas decorations. After years and years of red and green you get a little sick of it. As a kid we had a ton of ornaments that we collected over the years we would put them all on the tree. It was fun to have all of the sentimental ornaments but they were all very fragile. Now I want to avoid all of the fragile ornaments besides a few. Especially since my daughter wants to help with everything. I tend to gravitate towards bright colors and sparkly things. That is why I wanted to make some fun decorations with black, pink and gold. I made some pretty bows with gold glitter and pink ribbon. I also made some paper tassels out of pretty napkins because I just love paper tassels! You can individually hang them on branches or string them on ribbon and put them on the tree. Since we live in an apartment I am decorating mini trees. You can do the same decorations on a bigger tree for a larger space.
I have been wanting to make a dream catcher for a long time! As a kid there was a time when I was obsessed with dream catchers. I had a dream catcher necklace I loved to wear. Now I’m an adult and haven’t grown up too much because I still love dream catchers. I am loving all the dream catchers I have seen lately at parties and with decor. I also have been trying to make my place a bit more snowy and decorate with snowflakes. I decided to make a tissue paper dream catcher in a snowflake pattern. Sort of an I’m dreaming of a white Christmas dream catcher! I was going to make a yarn one but I have a ton of tissue paper that I wanted to try out making it out of that. I love how it turned out and now I want to make a few in different sizes to hang up together. You can also make other snowflakes to hang around. To make this easy tissue paper dream catcher you just need a few materials.

I’m am continuing to make my own snow since we don’t have any in Phoenix. These snow globe balloons were really fun to make and I just loved how they turned out. They are a cheap and easy decoration for any winter or Christmas party. It is looking really snowy. I made a bit of a mess with this project but I had fun doing it. I always have fun making a mess not always cleaning it up. Just make sure to have newspaper down to contain the mess.
What you need to make it:
I am jumping on the bandwagon and making a Thankful tree! I have an abundance of fall leaves so why not! I was tempted to take all of my fall leaves, put them in a pile and jump in it. The fake ones are as close as I get to falling leaves since I live in Arizona. There is still time I might still make a pile of leaves ;).
Any way to show thanks is good and I like the idea of using it for decoration as well. Earlier this week I made thankful balloons that were a lot of fun, you can see them here: http://valeventgal.com/2015/11/thankful-balloons/ I am using both the tree and balloons for Thanksgiving. We are adding leaves to the thankful tree throughout the month that we are thankful for to keep up the grateful spirit. I have a lot to be thankful for and some of them are silly things like pizza but sometimes it’s good to acknowledge the little things too!
I can’t believe it is finally Halloween week! I have been so busy with Halloween projects for the past month. I thought it would be a good idea to put them all together in case you missed anything. These Halloween party crafts and treats are all easy to make for a fun Halloween party. We are definitely prepared for Halloween, at least with decorations and desserts. I still don’t have a costume but I always throw something together last minute. I keep seeing so many adorable diy costumes I just haven’t been able to decide. My indecisiveness leads to procrastination and then I will be up late the night before making a costume haha. My daughter on the other hand has been wearing her costume for the past couple weeks. She wants to wear it all the time! Hopefully it will make it to Halloween in one piece.
Happy Friday! Since it is the weekend and I am on weekend time this post is a little late. It is also super duper easy because that’s what weekends are for! If you are entertaining and doing cocktails this is a fun DIY Washi Tape Serving Tray. I love washi tape because it can dress up a lot of things and you can make easy decorations with not a lot of skill needed. I used this dollar store plate I had and dressed it up for cocktails. Sprinkles are also always a nice touch too ;).
What you need:
DIY washi tape letters are a great decoration for a kids room or for birthday parties. My daughter Keira is obsessed with letters right now. She has to point out any time she sees a letter especially K for Keira. She wanted a K for her room and we will probably get the rest of the letters in her name to hang up in her room. I first wanted to try out a K. I was thinking glitter letters but didn’t want to deal with the mess. My place still has glitter from the last glitter project ;). Decorative tape or washi tape are so easy to work with and pretty.
I wanted to brighten up the table for fall so I decided to make this fun fall table runner. It was really cheap ($2) and easy to make. It doesn’t have to be just for fall but orange is a good fall color. Plus I have been seeing a lot of orange with black and white this fall. Orange is my daughters favorite color right now. It’s funny since orange is not most kids favorite color. However, this time of year is perfect for it with all the fall decor and of course Halloween! Now she can enjoy all of the orange decorations everywhere! By the time the next holiday rolls around she will probably have a new favorite. Although my favorite color as a kid was purple and that one stuck. You never know, kids are unpredictable!
When I was a kid I was a big doodler. In class I was the kid day dreaming and doodling in my notebook. Apparently not a lot has changed because I still am a dreamer and doodler. I loved art and took a few art classes. One summer I had signed up for an art class. Then I broke my right arm a week before it started(I’m right handed). I still took the class but I had to learn how to draw with my left hand. It took me forever to complete the projects but I did it! My love for art runs deep and of course I love art parties! This week my blog theme is art parties and today I am making art party hats. I thought it would be fun to make party hats part of the party activities. Plus it is wearable art! It could be fun to do this with regular coloring pages in the theme of the party and cut out the pictures to glue on plain party hats. Since I am going with an overall art theme doodle art party hats sounded fun! Don’t they look adorable with just plain paper and a few scribbles?! Sometimes the simplest things can turn out great. I was thinking of making a hat template and that could be used for the hat. Then I realized I have no idea how to make a hat template and I can just cut it out from the shape of a regular cheap hat. I’m all about making it easy for myself and others!
