It is starting to really feel like summer, which makes me want to celebrate! I got some little drink umbrellas and I was thinking a bigger version would be perfect for party decorations. Bigger is always better right?! I love either teeny tiny decorations or giant over sized things. I love these diy big drink umbrellas. I will be using them all summer long. You can put them in large drinks like a giant margarita or use them for centerpieces in a vase. Don’t they just make you want to be on the beach with a pina colada?

Since Mother’s Day is right around the corner and so is Cinco De Mayo I had the crazy idea to combine the two. I have made one pinata before and I loved it so I wanted to make a pinata for Mother’s Day. This diy present pinata is a perfect present for moms. Plus there is a fun giveaway at the end of the post!
As a mom a lot is asked of you on a daily basis. You have to do a million jobs in a day every single day. Sometimes it can be really stressful! I constantly feel like I could use a massage, a spa day, some wine and some chocolate. I also think there is a certain kind of stress relief from hitting something. No, I don’t want to hit a person, I’m a lover not a fighter :). However, hitting a pinata is just a good time and yes, it feels good to hit something sometimes. Who doesn’t love hitting a pinata and why should kids have all of the fun?! If you don’t want to make a pinata you can buy one and fill it with goodies. However, this pretty diy present pinata is fun to make! You can make it in any colors that mom might like. You can also make this pinata for birthdays or any occasion. Every party can be a pinata party!

This week has been all about the fiesta as I am getting ready for CInco De Mayo! I know it is a month early but that’s how it goes in the ole blogging world. You really get to celebrate every holiday twice! I made my pineapple margaritas and Mexican flower drink stirrers. Now I have these easy colorful tissue paper fiesta flowers! They are super duper easy to make and you can make a ton for a party. To use for a party backdrop, centerpieces and just scattered throughout a party. These are also fun to just make with kids. My daughter and I love the bright colors and the fiesta theme is a perfect fit for us. When you are from Arizona you have to know how to throw an awesome fiesta for Cinco De Mayo.
I love baby showers and being in my early (clears throat) 30s I have been to quite a few over the last couple of years. I personally am a big fan of themes and I just love to see the creative themes people come up with for baby showers. I know some people aren’t as in to themes but they really help to tie everything together. I love to do something beyond the typical baby boy theme. You really have to mix it up and bring the moms personality into the party. Think about what she’s interested in and go from there. Here are a few unique themes I have helped out with for family and friends.
I have been missing the ocean lately. I used to live in San Diego and sometimes I just have a craving for the beach and just seeing the ocean. Keira is also obsessed with sea creatures and she loved the ocean the one time she got to visit it. I thought it would be fun for us to make some Easter eggs to decorate that look like the ocean. We made these pretty glitter ocean Easter eggs and I just love them! Any ocean lover kid or adult would love them and they are really fun for centerpieces. We went a little crazy with all of the glitter and made a big fun mess!
Football parties are so much fun! Fire up the grill, put on the game and if your like me you have to add some decorations. I wanted to make some fun decorations for the food table but I didn’t want to go out and buy anything. I made this football party backdrop and table runner with what I had around the house. You might not have everything around the house but there are only a couple things you need to make your food table into a football table. There are a few changes you can make for different sports and this is fun for kids parties as well as watching the game. You can also make a backdrop jersey in the color of your team with the number of your favorite player.
I have been wanting to make a wreath for a while and I am really excited about this honeycomb wreath! I am just blown away by some of the wreaths I have seen from fellow bloggers. Some are super fancy and intricate. I love what I have been seeing and I had planned on really making something fancy. Then life happened and I didn’t have the time to dedicate to the fancy wreath in my mind. Don’t you just wish you could think something up and then it could magically appear? Someone needs to invent a machine that does that. Sounds simple enough ;). Anyways I didn’t have the time but still wanted to make my own wreath. I was browsing in the party section at Target as I tend to do because they have amazing things! Oh Target, what would I do without you. I came across this pink honeycomb and thought it would be cool for a wreath. I know pink doesn’t scream Christmas for some people but I also wanted to make something that I might be able to get away with keeping up past Christmas. Pink really is a year round thing! Since we are doing more of a modern Christmas with gold, pink, black and some bright colors this definitely fits in. You can use other colors as well red, green, blue, magenta or whatever tickles your fancy. Now lets get to business and make this honeycomb wreath!
I’m really in to doing nontraditional Christmas decorations. After years and years of red and green you get a little sick of it. As a kid we had a ton of ornaments that we collected over the years we would put them all on the tree. It was fun to have all of the sentimental ornaments but they were all very fragile. Now I want to avoid all of the fragile ornaments besides a few. Especially since my daughter wants to help with everything. I tend to gravitate towards bright colors and sparkly things. That is why I wanted to make some fun decorations with black, pink and gold. I made some pretty bows with gold glitter and pink ribbon. I also made some paper tassels out of pretty napkins because I just love paper tassels! You can individually hang them on branches or string them on ribbon and put them on the tree. Since we live in an apartment I am decorating mini trees. You can do the same decorations on a bigger tree for a larger space.
I have been wanting to make a dream catcher for a long time! As a kid there was a time when I was obsessed with dream catchers. I had a dream catcher necklace I loved to wear. Now I’m an adult and haven’t grown up too much because I still love dream catchers. I am loving all the dream catchers I have seen lately at parties and with decor. I also have been trying to make my place a bit more snowy and decorate with snowflakes. I decided to make a tissue paper dream catcher in a snowflake pattern. Sort of an I’m dreaming of a white Christmas dream catcher! I was going to make a yarn one but I have a ton of tissue paper that I wanted to try out making it out of that. I love how it turned out and now I want to make a few in different sizes to hang up together. You can also make other snowflakes to hang around. To make this easy tissue paper dream catcher you just need a few materials.

I’m am continuing to make my own snow since we don’t have any in Phoenix. These snow globe balloons were really fun to make and I just loved how they turned out. They are a cheap and easy decoration for any winter or Christmas party. It is looking really snowy. I made a bit of a mess with this project but I had fun doing it. I always have fun making a mess not always cleaning it up. Just make sure to have newspaper down to contain the mess.
