Yay mini party hats! Everything is cuter when it is mini and that is just a fact. Also how cute does Darth Vader look with a little party hat?! I am going to show you how to make mini party hats. They are easy to make for any party or just playing party. You can make these for birthdays to put on stuffed animals as decorations. Kids can wear them too. I made a tiny and medium sized template for the party hats for different sized stuffed animals plus the larger size can work for kids and even adults for a small party hat. The template makes these really easy to make. You can use any color paper or pattern to accommodate themes. You can also just print out the template and kids can color directly on it for a colorful party hat. We made these for a fun little tea party with the stuffed animals not really for any occasion but I will use them in the future for parties.

Love is in the air! Have you been shot by cupid’s arrow? I made these fun diy cupid’s arrows and shot them through some heart shaped cupcakes. You can also put them in other Valentine’s Day foods. Even health foods because apparently you can’t always have cupcakes. They are easy to make and really fun for Valentine’s Day parties.
What you need to make them:
pink or red paper straws
Cut paper straws into pieces about an inch and a half long. Stick a heart sticker facing down to the top of on of the straw pieces and one facing down on the bottom of another piece of straw. Cut the top rounded part of the heart on the bottom piece. Then cut small slits lined up down one side and down the other.
The force is strong with these candy lightsabers! After Christmas my place is Star Wars everything. My daughter is the biggest Star Wars fan, Darth Vader in particular. All she wanted for Christmas was a Darth Vader costume and a red lightsaber. She is all about the dark side of the force. I should maybe be concerned that she already at 4 has a thing for the bad guys. If we are watching a movie she always wants the parts with the bad guys. My adorable little weirdo! That is why I needed to make some kind of Star Wars dessert and these candy lightsabers were really easy to make.

If you’ve seen any of my Thanksgiving posts you know I can’t cook Thanksgiving food. I can make desserts and cute decorations that’s more my thing. This year I am making a side dish and even that intimidates me! I cannot tell you how many times I have ruined mashed potatoes. We are also doing Thanksgiving a little early to work with the families schedule so I really need to start figuring out what I can make. I did figure out how to make these cute turkey treat bags with free printable tags and that’s important too ;). These little turkey bags are really easy! You can stuff them with candy or non-candy options, whichever you prefer. Stickers, crayons or bubbles could be fun too. You can hand them out to kids in class. I think I will make some stuffed with fun little toys and crayons for the kids table at Thanksgiving. It is hard to get kids to sit through a big meal and activities always help :).
I am jumping on the bandwagon and making a Thankful tree! I have an abundance of fall leaves so why not! I was tempted to take all of my fall leaves, put them in a pile and jump in it. The fake ones are as close as I get to falling leaves since I live in Arizona. There is still time I might still make a pile of leaves ;).
Any way to show thanks is good and I like the idea of using it for decoration as well. Earlier this week I made thankful balloons that were a lot of fun, you can see them here: http://valeventgal.com/2015/11/thankful-balloons/ I am using both the tree and balloons for Thanksgiving. We are adding leaves to the thankful tree throughout the month that we are thankful for to keep up the grateful spirit. I have a lot to be thankful for and some of them are silly things like pizza but sometimes it’s good to acknowledge the little things too!
Happy Friday! Since it is the weekend and I am on weekend time this post is a little late. It is also super duper easy because that’s what weekends are for! If you are entertaining and doing cocktails this is a fun DIY Washi Tape Serving Tray. I love washi tape because it can dress up a lot of things and you can make easy decorations with not a lot of skill needed. I used this dollar store plate I had and dressed it up for cocktails. Sprinkles are also always a nice touch too ;).
What you need:
DIY washi tape letters are a great decoration for a kids room or for birthday parties. My daughter Keira is obsessed with letters right now. She has to point out any time she sees a letter especially K for Keira. She wanted a K for her room and we will probably get the rest of the letters in her name to hang up in her room. I first wanted to try out a K. I was thinking glitter letters but didn’t want to deal with the mess. My place still has glitter from the last glitter project ;). Decorative tape or washi tape are so easy to work with and pretty.
This DIY Bunting Cake Topper is super easy to make and a fun way to dress up a cake. Just add sprinkles and this cute cake topper! This can be great for the person who isn’t the best at frosting a cake or to dress up a store bought cake. Plus sprinkles, never underestimate the power of sprinkles! You could do so many colors and patterns to fit any theme.
What you need:
Tie the twine to two paper straws spread out about 8 inches. Fold small pieces (about 2 inches) of washi tape over the top of the twine. Continue folding them over lined up until you cover the entire twine leaving just a small bit on each end empty.
We are officially in October, which means Halloween all day every day! Yes, I have been getting ready for the past month but now it is socially acceptable. My daughter doesn’t always like to hang up the decorations. She has a very specific idea of what she wants to do with everything. Usually the places she chooses to put things are in the middile of the room or right in the way of where we walk or in the bathroom. I have different ideas so we have a bit of a power struggle. Strong willed 4 year olds definitely let their opinion known but I find a way to win in the end. I thought we needed a Halloween craft that she could do whatever she wanted with and put it anywhere. That way she isn’t interested in my decorations. We made this spider web candy craft and it was an easy activity she loved. The great thing is there are so many ways to make a spider web. You can also eat it too!
Lately I have been really into watercolors. I still have no skills when it comes to watercolor but I love them. My daughter loves them too and she is honestly probably better than I am. I am not afraid to admit it. I love painting but am not the best painter ever. When it comes to art I would say my cartoon and colored pencil skills are probably the best. When I was a kid for a while I wanted to be a cartoonist. Somewhere in between the time I wanted to be a princess and veterinarian. It is important to be well rounded with your interests! I am well rounded or indecisive, but I’m also a glass half full kind of gal so I will go with well rounded. Anyways back to watercolors. Even if you don’t have a lot of skill to make anything, like me, they still look so pretty!. Although some people can take it to the next level with watercolor for the watercolor tissue paper flowers you don’t need skills. I love making things with tissue paper and these tissue paper flowers are so really easy to make and so pretty. You can hang them up or use them as table centerpieces. You could also group them together for a dessert table backdrop. Go crazy and get creative!
