Summer has ended but before it does we had some serious dance parties! My daughter loves music and says she wants to be a rock star. That is why we needed to make a microphone craft. We made some sparkly pretend microphones to bring out our inner rock stars. These were really easy to make and I got to use some of the toilet paper rolls I have been hoarding. You never know when you will need to make a toilet paper roll craft in a pinch. My daughter keeps making the paper towel rolls in to light sabers. I think we have about 10 of them by now.

It’s amazing the things you can make with just pipe cleaners. I love doing pipe cleaner crafts with my daughter because they are simple and don’t leave a big mess to clean up. I also like glitter crafts but I always know that I will be cleaning it up for a week. These sparkly pipe cleaners give you that shine without all the mess. We made these cute pipe cleaner crowns in different shapes so it is also a learning craft. You could use all the different shapes on the same crown too! My daughter was partial to the heart crown because she loves hearts. I love the blue one with the circles. I chose the sparkle pipe cleaners but you could do solid colors without sparkle. Crowns can work for boys and girls for the little princes, princesses, queens and kings. Any way you make them they are super simple to make.
Food and drink labels are a cute touch to add to any kind of party. These diy party food labels are really simple to make for parties. These colors are fun for girls nights, bachelorette parties or bridal showers. I like to have bright colors but you can use any color combination. You can make a full food menu if you are having a more formal meal. I love the little foil paper accents on these! You can see that my hand writing is not the best but I still wrote on them to show that they can still look cute with fancy hand lettering. I will also tell you different combinations you can use to make them extra cute!
I always get myself in a lot of trouble when I go to Target. They have everything and sometimes I just want it all! I always have to stop at the dollar spot because there are some really great finds there. Especially if you like to craft they always have something fun. I don’t feel bad about these purchases because it’s only a dollar(or 3 or 5). While at Target shopping for a trip I saw these cute star napkins and red stripped paper straws. I thought I could make some kind of wands out of them and made these firework wands! I just love how cute these turned out. In the past I’ve made snowflake wands and flower wands. My daughter really loves any of the wands I’ve made so any time I can make wands I make them.
Who doesn’t love bacon?! Besides vegetarians(sorry vegetarians this post is not for you). I don’t know too many people that don’t love bacon. I personally love all breakfast/brunch foods better than other foods. I could do brunch every day and breakfast for dinner every day! We do breakfast for dinner a lot and that has to include some bacon. I made this mini bacon pinata and I think it turned out adorable. You can use the same technique to make a larger bacon pinata or you could make it even tinier. For little ones just fill them with small candy. For the larger ones you can fill them with candy and mini plastic drink bottles. I’m assuming this pinata would be appealing to the adult crowd more than the kid crowd. Adults need more pinatas in there life. I think adults need to hit something and eat some candy more than kids ;). I’ve seen hamburger pinatas in stores but not bacon.
Something about summer just makes me want to make things with bright colors, in this case a colorful diy summer wreath. Okay, I am actually like that year round but sunshine and bright colors go together so well. A long time ago I had bought these colorful straws that have just been sitting there. I don’t know if I bought them for a party or just because I thought I might need some colorful straws to brighten up my drinks. Either way I haven’t really used them and when I came across them I thought they needed to be used for a craft project. I was thinking maybe a chandelier but I really wanted to make a summer wreath to hang on the door so I decided to go with a wreath. This is a really simple wreath with simple materials that I had around the house. I like to do that a lot. Look in my craft supplies, see what I have and what I can turn it into. It’s like a scavenger hunt! This colorful diy summer wreath is easy to make and perfect for summer parties!
It is starting to really feel like summer, which makes me want to celebrate! I got some little drink umbrellas and I was thinking a bigger version would be perfect for party decorations. Bigger is always better right?! I love either teeny tiny decorations or giant over sized things. I love these diy big drink umbrellas. I will be using them all summer long. You can put them in large drinks like a giant margarita or use them for centerpieces in a vase. Don’t they just make you want to be on the beach with a pina colada?

This week has been all about the fiesta as I am getting ready for CInco De Mayo! I know it is a month early but that’s how it goes in the ole blogging world. You really get to celebrate every holiday twice! I made my pineapple margaritas and Mexican flower drink stirrers. Now I have these easy colorful tissue paper fiesta flowers! They are super duper easy to make and you can make a ton for a party. To use for a party backdrop, centerpieces and just scattered throughout a party. These are also fun to just make with kids. My daughter and I love the bright colors and the fiesta theme is a perfect fit for us. When you are from Arizona you have to know how to throw an awesome fiesta for Cinco De Mayo.
I am getting ready for a fiesta! Margaritas, bright colorful tissue paper flowers, and Mexican food. I could seriously eat Mexican food every day, I kind of do haha. These little Mexican flower drink stirrers are the perfect touch in a margarita. They would be super cute in any bright color drink. Ole ole lets make some colorful fiesta flowers!
What you need to make them:
tissue paper in bright colors with at least three colors
twine or ribbon
hot glue gun
Cut the tissue paper into two inch strips across the width of the tissue paper(shorter side of the tissue paper). Cut those pieces into thirds, they should be about 3 to 4 inches long.
I have been missing the ocean lately. I used to live in San Diego and sometimes I just have a craving for the beach and just seeing the ocean. Keira is also obsessed with sea creatures and she loved the ocean the one time she got to visit it. I thought it would be fun for us to make some Easter eggs to decorate that look like the ocean. We made these pretty glitter ocean Easter eggs and I just love them! Any ocean lover kid or adult would love them and they are really fun for centerpieces. We went a little crazy with all of the glitter and made a big fun mess!
