Modern Christmas Tree Decorations

Modern Christmas Tree Decorations

I’m really in to doing nontraditional Christmas decorations. After years and years of red and green you get a little sick of it. As a kid we had a ton of ornaments that we collected over the years we would put them all on the tree. It was fun to have all of the sentimental ornaments but they were all very fragile. Now I want to avoid all of the fragile ornaments besides a few. Especially since my daughter wants to help with everything. I tend to gravitate towards bright colors and sparkly things. That is why I wanted to make some fun decorations with black, pink and gold. I made some pretty bows with gold glitter and pink ribbon. I also made some paper tassels out of pretty napkins because I just love paper tassels! You can individually hang them on branches or string them on ribbon and put them on the tree. Since we live in an apartment I am decorating mini trees. You can do the same decorations on a bigger tree for a larger space. read more

DIY Christmas Tree Gift Bags

DIY Christmas Tree Gift Bags

These DIY Christmas tree gift bags are a cute way to give out little gifts. You can use them for candy, small gifts or gift cards. All you need is glitter card stock paper to make it! I love giving out little gifts to people around the holidays. It can be tricky to figure out who to give gifts to and who not to. You don’t want to leave anyone out or not give a gift to someone who gives you one. I like to carry around some gift bags to make sure I have them in case I need a last minute little gift. We are finally in Christmas mode and I just love this time of year. My daughter gets even more into than I do with all of the decorations. I don’t know another 4 year old that love decorations as much as she does. Luckily she also likes the little crafty projects like I do too. read more

Christmas Ornaments with Sugar Cookies Inside

Christmas Ornaments with Cookies Inside. A fun way to give presents or to hang cookies on the tree for a holiday party

I have a lot of holiday parties coming up so I am in decorating, cookie and dessert land. I thought it would be cute if there were cookies hanging from the tree that people could have at a party or to take home after. They are decorations and food all in one! I haven’t mastered the art of cookie making yet. I am determined to learn how to make cute cookies but for now I am a complete beginner. Despite my lack of decorating skills if you put it in an ornament viola they are adorable! The power of presentation. You can wrap them up in cellophane bags too and hand them out to friends for their own little ornament cookie. read more

Polar Bear Donuts

Polar Bear Donuts. A fun treat for winter parties or a Christmas morning breakfast

Brrrr it is getting cold! In Phoenix 60 degrees is polar bear weather. I’ve had to bring out the big jackets! We are so wimpy here when it gets cold but I love the bit of cold we are getting. The cold makes me want to make some winter treats. I got a donut pan, Christmas came early! You might be seeing a lot of donuts from me. I am obsessed with making donuts now. I am still working on some really good recipes for the actual donuts and when I perfect it I will share my recipes. You can find a ton of recipes on pinterest for the donuts. I covered mine with candy melts but a white vanilla glaze or the classic powdered sugar would work too!  These little cute polar bear donuts would be fun for breakfast Christmas morning. You could also make them for a holiday party. read more
