In our house there is a lot of pink! It’s just me and my daughter, which means girl time all the time. Ok she’s not just into the girl stuff she also is obsessed with Star Wars. Dresses, pink, and Star Wars, they go together in our house. We also love princesses and dress up. Really pink candy can be used for anything girl. For kids and adults, I know a few adults that still love their pink princesses! We made this simple pink princess candy bark that anyone can make. It was half me and half my daughter and she is five. You may be able to tell what parts are her because of the excessive amount of sprinkles but it all looks so pretty. There just aren’t enough pink desserts out there. We had to change that.

Every year for my daughters birthday I want to have something special waiting for her when she wakes up. This is complicated by the fact that I am not a morning person and my ability to accomplish anything early is nonexistent. That is why I wanted to come up with some simple birthday surprises. These 15 easy birthday morning surprises for kids work perfectly for the half ass moms like myself. It is a badge I wear proudly because you can’t do it all all the time. Plus, with birthday parties getting more and more extravagant birthday mornings have to be simple. I love to make things for parties but for my daughters birthday this year I am keeping it simple. Its nice to give yourself a break sometimes and keep birthdays easy. Although if you want to go big I have some ideas for that too ;). Do one or more of these ideas for your kid and they will have a memorable birthday morning!
Tea parties are a good time but sometimes they can be a bit dull. I love tea and I love parties. There is sometimes just too much emphasis on the tea and not enough on the party, in my opinion. My daughter loves to throw tea parties for her little stuffed animals but we also like real tea parties too. We have learned how to have a really fun tea party and I want to share how we do it.
For us confetti is always a must but I get that it can be a little messy for some people. Mini disco balls and balloons also work great for fun decorations. Instead of everything all neatly lined up make it a little messy. We don’t need to be too proper. Bright colors are fun for the table clothes and plates. I always love the bright colors and in my house we are on a pink kick!
Yay mini party hats! Everything is cuter when it is mini and that is just a fact. Also how cute does Darth Vader look with a little party hat?! I am going to show you how to make mini party hats. They are easy to make for any party or just playing party. You can make these for birthdays to put on stuffed animals as decorations. Kids can wear them too. I made a tiny and medium sized template for the party hats for different sized stuffed animals plus the larger size can work for kids and even adults for a small party hat. The template makes these really easy to make. You can use any color paper or pattern to accommodate themes. You can also just print out the template and kids can color directly on it for a colorful party hat. We made these for a fun little tea party with the stuffed animals not really for any occasion but I will use them in the future for parties.
Birthday cake donuts with buttercream glaze are amazing! It is like a birthday cake in a wonderful donut bite. This is the perfect donut to make for breakfast for someones birthday or just for fun. Everyday needs a little birthday level of celebrating in it and donuts. With these donuts you can cover them with buttercream glaze or drizzle a little layer over it. I have been on a huge donut kick lately mostly with cute donuts like these penguins: http://valeventgal.com/2015/11/penguin-donuts/ . These birthday cake donuts are amazing for the donut lover.
I love pirate parties it is a classic theme that never goes out of style. When I was a kid my dad built a pirate ship playground in the backyard. How cool is that?! We would dress up like pirates and play pretend pirates all the time. That is why pirates have a special place in my heart. Acting like a pirate is so much fun and having a pirate party is fun too! I made these pirate party diys with foam paper. Then kids can have sword fights without anyone getting hurt! Really easy to make and fun for parties or just pretending to be a pirate aaarrggh.
Yo ho yo ho a pirate’s life for me! Maybe not a pirate’s life with all the pillaging and lack of bathing but a pirate party I can get on board with. Especially the pirate party desserts! This week my blog is having a pirate party with desserts, ships and sword diys. We just came back from Disneyland last week. Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorite rides at Disney. It was also the only ride I took my daughter Keira on that she we afraid of. She loved the Haunted Mansion. For some reason she loves ghosts but the pirates were a bit too much for her. I wouldn’t be doing my job as a parent if I didn’t frighten my child a little at some point. She is going to need something to talk to her therapist about when she grows up(I hope you can sense my tone, I’m kidding). For the pirate party desserts I made pirate cupcakes arrgghh and treasure chest brownies.

Sticking with my pineapple obsession/theme I have an easy pineapple pinata. This pineapple pinata is a pull string made with a paper lantern and tissue paper! You could also use the paper lanterns for decoration if you don’t want to have a pinata. I’m all for the pinatas! Yes, sometimes I like to really hit a pinata but I also like to pull a string and have candy fall from the sky :). Living the dream, most of my dreams involve candy. I have attempted to make a pinata before but it was a bit too complicated for me. This is easy breezy and looks really cute!
My niece Zoe just turned 6. I can’t believe she is already 6! She is so grown up now and I just love watching her grow up. I missed a birthday party or two of hers when I was living in San Diego. Now I get to help out with all of the decorations and making her birthday extra special. She had big ideas for her birthday with a magic theme, magician(what is a magic party without a magician?!), and a bouncy castle. She wanted rabbits in hats with purple, pink, black and white colors. I love, love how the color combination turned out. Everything looked amazing and her magic birthday party was a blast. Plus, Zoe got to show off her amazing magic skills.
My niece is really into magic right now. She has her magic kit and does some really fun magic tricks. For her 6th birthday party she wanted to have a magic party. I thought that was such a fun theme, I love how original she is. I made a few easy decorations that I am going to show you how to make.
To make an easy magic wand all you need is paper and curling ribbon in the colors of your party, straws, glue, and scissors.
Fold paper over in a strip about the size of your finger nail. Keep folding until the paper is completely folded. Then cut the paper three strips together as seen in the picture below.
