When I was a kid I was a big doodler. In class I was the kid day dreaming and doodling in my notebook. Apparently not a lot has changed because I still am a dreamer and doodler. I loved art and took a few art classes. One summer I had signed up for an art class. Then I broke my right arm a week before it started(I’m right handed). I still took the class but I had to learn how to draw with my left hand. It took me forever to complete the projects but I did it! My love for art runs deep and of course I love art parties! This week my blog theme is art parties and today I am making art party hats. I thought it would be fun to make party hats part of the party activities. Plus it is wearable art! It could be fun to do this with regular coloring pages in the theme of the party and cut out the pictures to glue on plain party hats. Since I am going with an overall art theme doodle art party hats sounded fun! Don’t they look adorable with just plain paper and a few scribbles?! Sometimes the simplest things can turn out great. I was thinking of making a hat template and that could be used for the hat. Then I realized I have no idea how to make a hat template and I can just cut it out from the shape of a regular cheap hat. I’m all about making it easy for myself and others!
What you need to make the hats:
white or solid color paper
crayons
party hats(dollar store or any cheap hats will do)
glue
Wrap the paper around the hat so it is completely covering it. Trace a line on the bottom of the party hat. Then cut the paper out along that line. Put glue on the paper, I used my daughter’s glue stick, apparently I was short on glue but sshhh don’t tell her I used hers ;). Then wrap the paper around the party hat.
You can trace and cut out the shape of the hat on the paper before the party. You could also just have the full paper out for the kids to draw on then be ready to cut and glue them at the party. Also, you could have the paper already on the hat and they could draw directly on the hat! Any way would work just do what is easiest for you.
Aren’t they so cute and easy?! Not your ordinary party hat. You can make them in any color too.
