National bacon day is coming up on August 31 in case you didn’t know. It is an important holiday to celebrate! Really any excuse to eat more bacon ;). I wanted to show my love for bacon with a bacon bouquet. I found an easy way to make bacon look pretty in a “flower” bouquet. This is perfect for breakfast in bed for a birthday or if you are making brunch. This week on my blog the theme is brunch! I love, love brunch. Bacon, mimosas, and french toast, does life get any better?! Come back and join me for all of the brunch fun! Back to bacon talk. I didn’t add anything to the bacon because bacon stands on its own. You could add a little maple syrup for maple bacon or brown sugar to sweeten it. Life’s just better with bacon!
What you need to make it:
bacon
muffin tin
a fork
foil
asparagus
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Take a fork, put one end of the bacon in between two of the prongs. Wrap it around the end prong then tuck the bacon into the next one and continue as shown above. Keep wrapping the bacon around moving it slightly downward .
Line the muffin tin with tin foil to catch the grease. Take the bacon off of the fork and put it in the muffin tin. Press the end piece against one side so it wont unravel when it cooks. Place it in the oven and cook for 15 minutes. The cooking time may vary depending on your oven and how cooked you like your bacon. I cooked until the ends were crispy so the bottom wouldn’t be under cooked.
I used asparagus for the flower stems. For the asparagus I drizzled it with olive oil then added a small amount of salt and pepper. Cooked for 10 minutes. Doesn’t it look so pretty?! I am so happy with how these bacon flowers turned out and it was super easy to make.
