Pirate Party Desserts - Val Event Gal

Yo ho yo ho a pirate’s life for me! Maybe not a pirate’s life with all the pillaging and lack of bathing but a pirate party I can get on board with. Especially the pirate party desserts! This week my blog is having a pirate party with desserts, ships and sword diys. We just came back from Disneyland last week. Pirates of the Caribbean is one of my favorite rides at Disney. It was also the only ride I took my daughter Keira on that she we afraid of. She loved the Haunted Mansion. For some reason she loves ghosts but the pirates were a bit too much for her. I wouldn’t be doing my job as a parent if I didn’t frighten my child a little at some point. She is going to need something to talk to her therapist about when she grows up(I hope you can sense my tone, I’m kidding). For the pirate party desserts I made pirate cupcakes arrgghh and treasure chest brownies.

For the cupcakes you need:

cupcakes

vanilla frosting

black writing icing

red fruit by the foot

candy eyes

Frost the cupcake with a knife or spatula. Cut out a piece of fruit by the foot that is slightly longer than the cupcake when folded in half, about an inch. Place the piece on top of the cupcake as shown above. Cut a triangle up to the cupcake out of the middle third section of the piece of fruit by the foot extending from the cupcake. (This is tricky to explain but is shown in the picture above.)

Fold over the end piece folding forward. Squeeze this piece together so it stays in place. Cut off the extra on the left side so it is rounded in the shape of the cupcake.

Now for the eye and eye patch. Put the candy eye on one side towards the middle right below the “bandana”. On the other side with black writing icing draw a half circle for the eye patch then one line diagonally to the top. Then one line diagonally downwards.

For the beard make small lines downwards on the bottom, working around in a circle. Leave a smaller circle in the middle for the mouth. For the nose I did triangle and dot noses. Noses are always the trickiest for me in drawing and apparently cupcake decorating too. You can practice first on a plate and see what shape works best for you.

Arrgghh these pirates are ready to party!

Pirate Party Treasure Dessert

I also made pirate’s treasure brownies.

What you need for these:

brownies

chocolate frosting

gold sprinkles or colorful candy like Mini M&Ms

I used pre-packaged brownies. Yes sometimes I cheat a bit, you can’t bake everything! The prepackaged ones are really flat so I put one on top of another for the treasure chest. If they are homemade you only need one for the bottom. For the top take another brownie and cut off 1/3.Use the other 2/3 for the top. Press it firmly on to the top straight up and down as shown.

Fill the top of the brownie with chocolate frosting. Sprinkle the gold sprinkles over it. Make sure it’s on a plate because this can get messy! Press the top of the vertical brownie slightly forward to slightly close the treasure chest.

Treasure chest pirate party dessert

Now those pirates have their stolen treasure! Put some gold or colorful beads on the dessert table for decoration. You could also have treasure maps with pirouettes and black rope licorice tied around the middle. So many fun pirate party desserts! Who’s ready for a pirate party?!
