Magic Party DIYS

PicMonkey Collage

My niece is really into magic right now. She has her magic kit and does some really fun magic tricks. For her 6th birthday party she wanted to have a magic party. I thought that was such a fun theme, I love how original she is. I made a few easy decorations that I am going to show you how to make.

To make an easy magic wand all you need is paper and curling ribbon in the colors of your party, straws, glue, and scissors.

Fold paper over in a strip about the size of your finger nail. Keep folding until the paper is completely folded. Then cut the paper three strips together as seen in the picture below.

Put glue in the middle section then place the straw on top of the glue. I used paper straws because I always have a ton on hand but any straws will do. Then fold the paper over the straw. Put glue on the last strip all the way across and fold the paper over again. Press firmly and let the glue dry.

Curl the curling ribbon and cut into sections about 5 inches in length. Fold each piece in half. Put a little glue on the folded end and press it into one end of the wand. That’s how you add the magic! You could also put a little strip of white paper on each end to make it look even more like a magicians wand. I was just short on time so I left that out but they still looked cute and the kids had fun playing with the wands.

There you go cheap and easy magic wands!

I love using tissue paper in any way I can to decorate. It is a cheap and easy material to use. Plus you can make some amazingly cute things with tissue paper. I made these garlands to look like magician handkerchiefs. You know the classic magician trick with the colorful handkerchiefs that are all tied together? Even if you don’t know the trick it makes for a colorful decoration. You can make this type of garland for any party theme in your party colors. To make this you need ribbon(I used curling ribbon), multicolored tissue paper and a hole puncher.

Take one sheet of tissue paper fold the upper left corner down to form a triangle. Cut off the extra piece.

Take the bottom left corner and fold it up to the top. Then fold it in half.

Cut through the folded over section. Separate the piece and will have 4 triangle pieces.

I then took the top corners and twisted them. I glued the corners together so the triangles look like they are tied together.

I punched 2 hole in each piece on the top and strung the ribbon through it. A little tissue paper can go a long way.
