Bunny Ears and Bunny Nose Treats!

| Desserts, DIY, Easter, Holidays

My daughter Keira has really been getting excited for Easter this week. Yesterday she was wearing bunny ears around the entire day. They kept falling in her face but she insisted on keep them on. She also picked out a cute dress for Easter. It has multicolored jelly beans all over it, so cute! She has a better fashion sense than I do so I usually let her pick out what she wants to wear. Both of us love bright colors and spring is the perfect time for that. To get ready for Easter I’ve been testing out some fun and easy treats. We made bunny ear chocolate spoons and marshmallow pop bunny noses. This was so easy to put together. I like anything I can prepare with Keira so I don’t have to stay up at night getting things ready.

For the bunny ears you need:

1 package of plastic spoons(white or clear)

1 package of white candy melts or white chocolate

2 drops of pink food coloring

parchment paper

First, I melted some candy melts, you can use white chocolate as well. I follow the package on the candy melts for heating instructions. Usually I put the microwave on defrost or 50% power for 1 minute then stir it. After the first minute heat it in 30 second intervals stirring each time until it is smooth. Separate the candy melts into two bowls, one with about a third of the melted candy and the rest in another bowl.

Line up the spoons on parchment paper, I had them kind of scattered but alternating directions keeps them more spread out. Withe the larger bowl of melted candy use a spoon to pour the melted white chocolate into the plastic spoons. Once they are all filled up wait for them to dry. They don’t take long to dry, you can put them in the fridge to dry even quicker.

Mix 2 drops of pink food coloring into the remaining white candy melts. You can add more food coloring for a darker pink color. I used a spoon to put a the pink melted candy on top of the white. You can put a small amount in the center third of the spoon and spread it out up and down with a toothpick or lollipop stick. I would suggest using a small spoon for this, I used a large spoon but it is easier to control where the melted candy is going with a small spoon.

I also used pink sprinkles on some as well. I just put some sprinkles in my hand and sprinkled them over the white chocolate before it dried. Again, just make sure if you use sprinkles to add them before the white chocolate dries.

For the noses you also need:

marshmallows

pink sprinkles

lollipop sticks(optional)

Rip the marshmallow in half as shown above. Put each half on a lollipop stick or you can just dip them by hand and only dip one side. If you are doing this I would suggest dipping the sticky side. Dip marshmallow into the melted candy. You can cover both sides or only the side that will be facing up, whatever you want to do. There are no rules! Then shake on some pink sprinkles for cuteness :).

They look so cute don’t they?! I love them displayed together but you can display them separately or just make one. The bunny ears pop out of the spoons really easily to eat or to serve without the spoons.

These treats obviously got the stamp of approval from my daughter. She makes such a cute bunny :). She kept saying bunny, bunny, bunny time and now I have that made up song stuck in my head haha. She also thinks we made them for the Easter Bunny like how you make cookies for Santa. The Easter Bunny deserves treats too!
